About SCYC

Shetland Christian Youth Camp (SCYC) is a fun-filled, activity-packed residential summer camp for children in Primary 4 to Secondary 4, which has been going for over 30 years!

The camp runs for three weeks in July each year at the SCYC building overlooking the beautiful West Voe Beach in Sumburgh. Each week runs from Monday morning to Friday afternoon and is for specific age groups, so campers will be with children of a similar age to themselves. We encourage children to request to share a dorm with their friends who are signing up for camp too. Each camp has a maximum of 80 campers.

Campers enjoy indoor and outdoor activities like go-karting, sports, inflatables, treasure hunts, beach day and water games. There are inter-dorm competitions to encourage campers to shine in crafts, and team games and make new friendships.

Children have the opportunity to switch off for a few days from online games and social media and enjoy the benefits that come with that. (Please be assured that parents and campers are still able to call when needed). There are quiet times for campers each morning and evening as well as quizzes, Bible stories, and competitions throughout the day with tuck shop, pool, and table tennis in between absolutely fantastic meals every day.

The camp building has excellent facilities for both indoor and outdoor activities. A constant programme of improvements has provided a high standard of accommodation with each dormitory having an en-suite shower room with a toilet, to provide privacy for each camper. Each dorm has a maximum of 8 children and two leaders who are all PVG-checked and have completed an induction and training program.

The camp (run by Christians from Gospel Halls across Shetland) is completely FREE! Sign up now, while spaces are still available.
